John Claude Jones, 74, loving husband, father and pawpaw, rose to his eternal reward on April 20, 2016. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 3 to 5 p.m. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Kingsbury Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jeremy Roy officiating. John was born on August 30, 1941 in Kingsbury, Texas to Jim C. and Elenora (Newsom) Jones. After graduating from Seguin High School in 1960, he joined the United States Navy and set sail on his Journey of Life. While on leave from the Navy he met the love of his life Martha Richter. They married in 1963 and their adventure began, they raised two children. He was medically retired from the Navy and then accepted a job at the Seguin Post Office where he was a letter carrier and inside postal clerk, and fondly loved by the community. In 1988 he retired from the Post Office. He soon gained two grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. He enjoyed retirement attending their functions and always showering them with love. He enjoyed reading history (especially Texas history) and leatherwork expressing his artistic ability. John is preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Alex and Carrie Campbell Jones, his maternal Grandparents, Owen and Elizabeth Newsom and his brother-in-law, Ronald E. Anderson. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Martha Jones; son Alex Jones and wife Yvette; daughter, Melissa Monn and husband Wayne; grandchildren, Dustin Jones and wife Natalie, and Abby Jones and fiancé James Steck; great-granddaughter, Teagan Rayanne Jones; sister, Rose Katherine Jones Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.
