John J. Mergele, age 39 of Seguin, passed away on September 13, 2008. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Darilek officiating. Interment will follow in the San Geronimo Cemetery. John was born on October 13, 1968 in New Braunfels, Texas to Rudolph (Tex) Mergele and Carol Elaine Hajek Driggers. "Big John" was a loving son, brother, and uncle who enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be remembered as a friend to everyone. His father precedes him in death as do his grandparents, Joseph and Frances Hajek, Hugo and Mary Mergele, and Bryan W. Driggers, and his aunt, Katherine Ellsworth. Survivors include his parents, Carol and David (Stick) Driggers; brothers, Shawn R. Mergele and Bryan Driggers; nephew, Peyton David Driggers; grandmother, Lottie Driggers; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Ramon (Dickie) Sanchez, Ike McHaney, Jesse Rene Aguillar, Regi Aguillar, Steven Cole, Nic Walker and Rene Gonzales. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
