Johnnie D. Blakeney, age 72 of Seguin, passed away on June 5, 2017. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 8, 2017 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jimmie Hughes officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245 in Seguin and the American Legion Post 41 of Lockhart will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Johnnie was born on December 29, 1944 in Soso, Mississippi to Kermit and Treva (Ainsworth) Blakeney. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Florence "Flo" Blakeney, his parents and his brother, Cecil Blakeney. Survivors include his children, Brian Blakeney and wife Brenda, Lauri Palmer and husband Kenneth, and Mark Blakeney; grandchildren, Tiffany Bowles and husband Kevin, Trey Palmer, Amberly Blakeney, Austen Blakeney, Tayler Palmer, Zachery Blakeney, Tara Palmer, Savannah Wind, and Tabitha Wind; great-grandchildren, Bryson Bowles, Kasey Akers, Hunter Akers, and Jacob Funderburg; sisters, Faye Windham and Joan Hayes and husband Lowell; brother, Randall Blakeney and wife Rebecca; sistersin-law, Martha Jane "Pi" Randall and husband Jim, and Phyllis Ann Pease; brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Garringer and wife Gayle; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Bowles, Robert Chambliss, Joseph Blakeney, Randall Blakeney, Jr., Trey Palmer, Austen Blakeney, and Zachery Blakeney.
