Jose E. (Pilo) Paez, age 75 of Seguin, passed away on November 16, 2011. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 5:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Nick Carrillo officiating. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Full United States Air Force Honors will be rendered. Private interment will be held at a later date. Pilo was born on May 4, 1936 in Seguin, Texas to Manuel and Consuelo Gonzalez Paez. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Staff Sergeant after 22 years. He later served in law enforcement as a Deputy with the Bexar County Sherriff's office. He retired from the Texas Department of Corrections. Pilo was active in LULAC Council #682. He was active in civil matters and politically involved in the City of Seguin. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Jose Paez, Jr. and brother, Richard Paez. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Gloria R. Paez; children, Gene Paez and wife Sandra, Rosaemelda Paez and Tommy Cevallos, Carol Longoria and husband Raymond, and Bobby Castillo; grandchildren, Gene Paez, Jr., Dillon Paez, Javier Cevallos, Gregorio Cevallos, E. J. Cruz, Megan Cruz, Branden Cruz, Raymond Nicholas Longoria, Zarek Matthew Longoria, Phoebe Castillo, and Kyra Castillo; brother, Freddie Paez and wife Debra; sisters, Mary Ellen Mendez and husband Paul, Hortencia (Pime) Amador, Virginia Tristan and husband Juan, and Gloria Carmona and husband Catarino; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Freddie Paez, Jason Paez, Joe Anthony Paez, James Arevelo, Adrian Cardenas and Joe Cardenas.
