Jose R. Medina, Sr., of San Antonio, passed away on November 29, 2016 at the age of 70. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by funeral services with military honors at 1 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary chapel. A private interment will follow at a later date. Jose was born on March, 5, 1946 in Edinburg, Texas to Candelario and Adelaida (Ramirez) Medina. Jose proudly served as an officer's cook in the United States Army. Jose loved to play the scratch off tickets and would go gambling whenever he could. His real love, however, was his family; especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Jose was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his son, Luis Medina; his parents; sisters, Emma Nelms, Rafaela DeLaRosa, Isaura Ridge; brothers, (infant) Jose Medina, Jaime Medina, Adam Medina, Robert Medina, Salome Medina, and Candelario Medina, Jr. Jose is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Mary Belmarez Medina; daughter, Flora Herber and husband, Mark; son Christopher Medina, and wife Roseanne, Jose Medina, Jr., and wife, Evelyn; daughter-in-law, Melody Medina; brother, Lauro Medina and wife Martha; sisters, Celia Harmon and husband Jim, and Belia Mora; sister-in-law, Lucilla Medina; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
