Obituary

Joseph "Earl" Davis, age 86 of Seguin, passed away on March 10, 2010. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Hillcrest Assembly of God Church at 1:00 p. m. with Pastor Ed Davis officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Earl was born on August 16, 1923 to Ferrel Doyle and Addie Fay Felder Davis. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Signalman during World War II. He will be remembered as a former business owner in West Africa for 16 years. He also partnered with his son in a Core Drilling business in Texas and California. He enjoyed riding horses and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Elvis, Cleoburne, Curtis, Charles, Don and Ray. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Lucille McGown Davis; sons, Joe Davis and wife Rosario and Tom Davis. Grandchildren, Jacqueline Davis, Paul Davis and Nina Davis; great grandson, Brady; sisters, Marjorie Davis Piersol and husband Warren, Ruth Davis Betsill and husband Billy Joe and Fay Davis Levin and husband Myron; numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was a faithful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was thrilled to get to see TCU play in the BCS Bowl Game. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Assembly of God, P. O.
