Joseph Ervin "Joe" Stehle, 94, of Seguin, passed away on September 13, 2016. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Welborn officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Creek Methodist Cemetery. Joe was born on April 27, 1922 in Gonzales, Texas to John M and Mary H. (Weeber) Stehle. Being one of 8 children, Joe was accustomed to a large family, and as such, he loved spending time with his children, and grandchildren and he made sure they knew the Lord and had Him in their lives. He also loved being outdoors whether he was farming, ranching, or tending to his nursery. Joe and his wife, Mary Garrison Stehle owned the Presa Café in San Antonio until Joe was offered a job to broker cut flowers. They were also faithful and active members of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church of San Antonio for over 50 years, and current members of the First United Methodist Church in Seguin. Joe coached the church's little leagues and was a Boy Scout Leader. He was also President of the Monticello, San Antonio Home Owner's Association. His last years spent in Seguin were he took Mary's place as head cook, bottle washer, and grocery shopper for the Stehle House. Joe was a wonderful family man and will be greatly missed by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Fred, Johnny, Edward Stehle, Esther Burke, Hattie Jones, Carolyn Anderson, and Tillie Zimmerman; son-in-law, Phillip Peacock. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary; children Vernon Dale Stehle, and wife Yvonne, Linda Dietz, and husband James, Donna Raby, Patricia Peacock, Carol Calentine, and husband John ; grandchildren Gary Stehle, Steven Stehle, Joseph Stehle, Timothy Stehle, Mark Dietz, Codi Breckenridge; Randy Peacock, Justin Luke Peacock, Jim Raby, Jr., and John Wesley Calentine; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and several loving family members. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Stehle, Steven Stehle, Joseph Stehle, Jim Raby, Jr., and John Wesley Calentine. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Peacock, Justin Luke Peacock, Mark Dietz, and Tim Stehle. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 710 N Austin St, Seguin, TX 78155.
