Joshua Kyle Schoenvogel, age 30 of Poway, California, formerly of Seguin went to be with Jesus on August 2, 2012 after a valiant fight of 22 years from brain cancer. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel's Lutheran Church, 206 N. Travis, Seguin, Texas with Rev. Paul J. Zwarich and Dr. Ian Hamilton officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Private interment will be held at a later date. Joshua is survived by his wife Brittany Long Schoenvogel; daughter Mikayla Breanne; parents Gary and Luann; father and mother-in-law Dale & Dorothy Long of Poway, California; brothers Adam and wife Kelly, Jared and wife Cathie; nephews Owen, Huck, and Wyatt; niece Paisley; brother-in-law Joshua Long and wife Charlotte; many aunts and uncles and loving friends. Joshua was born September 13, 1981 in Houston, Texas and moved to Seguin at age 5. He graduated from Seguin High School. He graduated from Texas A&M in College Station with a degree in Kinesiology and Psychology. He was a proud member of the Class of 2004. He moved to Poway, California and worked in the Vista School District before moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and working at IBC Bank as a loan analyst. Joshua was an Eagle Scout of Troop 107 in Seguin. He continued to work with Boy Scouts in Texas, California and Oklahoma. He had a love of the outdoors and loved to share it with others. He was at peace backpacking in the mountains or rock climbing. He enjoyed kayaking and rafting rivers. He was an avid photographer and had an eye for capturing landscapes and the beauty of the outdoors. He really enjoyed meeting people and hearing their stories. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His strong determination to do everything he wanted to do will be a lesson for all who have a battle to fight. He didn't give up, his body did.
