Joyce Strey Even, age 56, passed away on April 29, 2018. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5-7pm at Emanuel's Lutheran Church. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday May 3, 2018 at Emanuel's Lutheran Church at 10am with Rev. Marcus Bigott officiating. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. A reception will follow at the McQueeney Lions Club. Joyce was born on November 12, 1961 to Erwin and Sophie (Luensmann) Strey. She is preceded in death by her parents and fathers-in-law Tom Even and Bill Bender. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Mark Even, son Derek Even and wife Kristina, son Jason Even and wife Michaella, grandchildren Alyana, Adelina, and Anthony Jay Even; sister Gladys Willard and husband Michael, sister Donna Castillo and husband Rene; brother-in-law Paul Even and wife Tina; sister-in-law Libby Even and husband Dane Ferrell. She is also survived by her mothers-in-law Pat Bender and Cheryl Even, numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, great niece and nephews, many other family members and loving friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Hoffer, Ryan Kiel, Rocco Moses, John Quisenberry, Kerstan Thomas and Dylan Weddle. Joyce was born and raised in Seguin, a lifelong member of Emanuel's Lutheran Church, was a 1980 graduate of Seguin High School, a member of the Gold Battalion, played in league volleyball and 9 pin bowling at Zorn Bowling Club with friends & family, and a 32 year dedicated employee of SMI Texas/CMC Steel. Her love of service to the Seguin community was significant, having served in various roles for the Guadalupe County Relay for Life for the past nineteen years. She was an active member of the McQueeney Lion's Club and the Seguin Parrot Head Club. Joyce loved spending time with her family and lifelong friends – fishing, beaching and girls trips. Nothing brought her more joy than being "Honey" to her three grandchildren.
