Obituary

Juan "Johnny" G. Garcia, age 62 of Seguin, passed away on July 2, 2014. Visitation will begin on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 5:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Nick Carrillo officiating. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Johnny was born on March 12, 1952 in Seguin, Texas, to Frank and Susie (Asencion) Garcia. At age 19 he joined the Guadalupe County Sherriff's Department as a Deputy. He then proudly served his country by serving in the United States Army from 1973-1976. Upon returning from service with the Army, he joined the Seguin Police Department where he retired, after 29 years on the police force, as a Detective. Johnny was proud to have attended the FBI National Academy. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alejos Garcia. Survivors include his wife Janie M. Garcia; children, Jessica Vacca and husband John, John Anthony Garcia, Maria Garcia and Marc Garcia; granddaughter, Jasmine Vacca; siblings, Steve Garcia, Sr. and wife Margaret, Gloria Herrera and husband Ruben, Irene Garcia, Lohie Garcia and husband Robert, Minnie Rivera and husband Jerry, Dahlia Castillo, Larry Garcia, Mary Lou Flores and husband Joe, Frank Garcia and wife, Mary, and Olga Ramos and husband Lupe; aunts, Paulita Camarillo and Conchita Obregon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
