June Lucille Moore Foerster, age 93 of Seguin, went to her eternal resting place on July 23, 2018. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Patrick and Mamie Schulz Moore on September 27, 1924.
As a child and young woman, she enjoyed swimming, boating, and water skiing on Lake McQueeney with her parents and grandfather, Adolph Schulz. She attended schools in San Antonio and was a 1942 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.
June worked in San Antonio as a secretary even after her parents relocated to McQueeney. While meeting new friends in the McQueeney/ Marion area, she met Kenneth. They were married on January 15, 1949 and made their home in McQueeney. June left the workforce to stay at home until her children reached school age. Then she worked at the Carriage House and Economy Floors in Seguin. After she retired, she volunteered at the Eden Home in New Braunfels and joined the Lutheranairs at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion.
Family was so very important to June, and she loved being at home and spending time with Kenneth and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent hostess to huge family dinners where there was always more wonderful food than anyone could possibly consume. Mac and cheese was always in abundance.
June also had a green thumb. All her plants flourished, and Kenneth stayed busy building more and more stands for her hanging baskets. Both her front yard and backyard were bursting with beautiful blooms almost all year long.
If anyone wondered what to give June as a gift, anything hummingbird related was always a good choice. She loved her hummers as if they were her personal pets and could spend hours watching them come to her feeders. She waited quite impatiently each spring for them to arrive.
Football was another passion of hers. She told stories of watching games with her dad, who taught her all the rules of the game. The Dallas Cowboys were "her" boys, and she rooted for the Texas Aggies with gusto.
June is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Bettie Brietzke.
Survivors include her children: Kathleen Kelsey, Stephen Foerster and wife Susan, Jonathan Foerster and wife Jocelyn; grandchildren: Ryan Kelsey, Brad Kelsey and wife Angie, Kenny Foerster and wife Brittnay, Monica Pipes and husband Melvin, and Jeremy Foerster; great-grandchildren: John Ryan Kelsey, Hayden Kelsey, Savannah Kelsey, Alisa Kelsey, Chelsea Gressett, Travis Foerster, Makenzie Moon, Kennedy Foerster, Jaden Pipes, and Ashlyn Pipes.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Foerster, Kenny Foerster, Ryan Kelsey, Brad Kelsey, John Ryan Kelsey, Hayden Kelsey, and Melvin Pipes.
The family is most grateful for the loving care given by Karen Taylor, Lindsey and Cooper Knight, and the staff at Seguin Assisted Living and the doctors, nurses and staff of GRMC. Thank you Harry Dietz for your visits and prayers and many thanks to Sheryl Brietzke, who gave special care to her aunt for many years.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Sunday, July 29, 2018. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 10am at St. John Lutheran Church, 600 South Center Street, Marion, Texas. The Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
