Obituary

Karen Kay Grimm Soefje, age 65 of Seguin, met her Heavenly Father on June 26, 2019. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cathe Evins officiating. Interment will follow at Dugger Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. Karen was born on October 25, 1953 in Seguin, Texas to Raymond Henry and Elaine Joyce (Seay) Grimm. Karen was a 1972 graduate of Seguin High School. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pharmacy. She was a dedicated pharmacist for over 33 years at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center. A lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Seguin and a proud 44 year member of the Seguin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Karen's whole world revolved around her family and friends. She loved being a grandmother and was the great "Baby Whisperer" to them all. She is preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Eugene Soefje and her niece, Carolyn Timmons. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John Edward Soefje; her daughters, Kassie Soefje Johnson and husband Michael, and Jillian Soefje James and husband Matthew; grandchildren, Kamden, Mason and Logan Johnson and Joyce Sophie James; sister, Lois Grimm Baysinger and husband Jeffrey; brothers-in-law, Elmer Soefje and wife Elsie and Ronald Soefje and wife Deborah; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Soefje; nephews and nieces, Grant Baysinger, Cort Baysinger, Nicholas Soefje and wife Dawn, Aaron Soefje and wife Marsha, Theresa McKnight and husband Efrem and Kenneth Soefje and wife Kelly; aunts and uncle, Evelyn and Bob Carley, and Norma Stollewerk; numerous cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Matthew James, Grant Baysinger, Cort Baysinger, Arno Grimm, Donald Carley, Kenneth Soefje and Wayman Krueger. Honorary pallbearers will be the Seguin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 710 N. Austin, Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to the Dugger Cemetery Association, c/o Sharon Herbold, 3106 Elm Creek Road, Seguin, Texas, 78155.
