Kathryn Louise Wenske Schmoekel, age 91 of Marion, passed away on January 30, 2025.  Kathryn was born on May 7, 1933 in Gonzales, Texas to Hedwig F. (Frankenhauser) and Albert T. Wenske.

Kathryn worked beside her husband, Leroy, at Friedrich Air Conditioning, both retiring after many years of service in 1998.  She always had a passion for gardening.  Her most cherished times were spent with her grandchildren who knew and loved her as "Granny".  Spending time with all her pets was also a favorite.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her great-great granddaughters, Grace and Vivian Castro, and her siblings, Evelyn Forshage and husband Alex, Ruby Elley and husband Raymond, Ida Mae Mergle and husband James, and Billy Ray Lubbock.

Survivors include her son Rodney Schmoekel and wife Dora; daughter, Deborah Parsons and husband Aubrey; grandchildren, Eric Schmoekel and wife Misty, Stacy Vasquez, Quintin Parsons and wife Bobbie Jo, Kevin Parsons and wife Andrea, and Janette Parsons; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Arlene Lubbock and Barbara Schmoekel; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Bryan Dziadik-Willingham officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Schmoekel, Kevin Parsons, Quintin Parsons, Albert Matthew Vasquez, Shane Vasquez and Craig Terrill.
