Lalla Starcke Schmidt, age 64 of Victoria, formerly of Seguin, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Lalla was born on April 02, 1952 in Seguin, to Hilmar H. Starcke Jr. and Charlton Marx Starcke.
Lalla was married to Layne J Schmidt of Seguin on December 18, 1971 and they were happily married for 36 years until his passing on April 13, 2007.
Family, friends, and service were Lalla's passion and delight. Layne served his community as a Police Officer for the City of Victoria, and Lalla dedicated her 16 year career to teaching special needs children at the Victoria Independent School District. The accomplishment that she was most proud of, however, was being a loving wife and mother. Lalla had an unwavering faith in God, and was very active in her church and Bible Study programs at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, of Victoria, Texas.
Lalla is survived by her two sons; Layne Scott Schmidt and his wife Ambre Blatter Schmidt, John Hilton Schmidt and his fiancé Natalie Polm, and her grandson Nolan Schmidt. She is also survived by her two brothers, Hilmar H. Starcke III and Francis X. Starcke, as well as a number of other close friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two daughters, Baby Girl Schmidt and Angela Dawn Schmidt.
Visitation will begin Monday, July 11 2016 at 9:15 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin.
Pallbearers are Hilmar Starcke, Francis Starcke, Scott Schmidt, John Schmidt, Jim Bryant and Jay Bryant.
