Lanita Amré Wallis-Parrish, age 73 of Seguin, passed away on June 15, 2016. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ron Welborn and Rev. Bill Knobles officiating. Interment to follow at 1 P.M. at Saturn Cemetery in Waelder, TX. Lanita was born on July 22, 1942 in Waco, TX to George and Betty Jean (Wade) Barker. Lanita grew up on the beaches of Galveston and was an avid swimmer. It was there that she met her childhood sweetheart, who would later become her husband, Morris H. Wallis. Together they raised their family first in Santa Fe, TX, then Pasadena, and later in Hitchcock, TX, until Morris bought some land in Waelder, where they would later build a home. After Morris' passing in 1995, Lanita stayed in Waelder where she married Kenneth Parrish and remained until his death. Lanita was a true artist. She was not only an accomplished pianist, but also a master craftswomen; she would quilt, crochet, sew, and paint. Lanita also loved to play Yahtzee and work on crossword puzzles. Lanita is preceded in death by her husbands, Morris H. Wallis and Kenneth Parrish; her parents; sister Adrianna Orsak; brothers Curtis Gene Hurst, and Clyde Barker. She is survived by her daughters Monna Smith and husband, Jim, and Monique White and husband Harry; grandchildren Cé- Moné Ireton and husband Jonah, Robert Morris-Carl Collett, Josh Smith and wife Sissy, Harry White, and Crystalynn Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Georgia Hanks, brother James "Happy" Barker; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
