Laura Ann Lenz Merz, age 70 of Seguin, passed away on February 26, 2018. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Emanuel's Lutheran Church with Rev. Marcus Bigott officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Laura was born on September 27, 1947 in Seguin, Texas to Ferdinand Edward and Laura Louise (Gutz) Lenz. She retired from Texas Lutheran University after 34 years of service. Laura was also an active member of the Seguin Hermann Sons Lodge #37 where she served as both an agent and dance class officer. She and Roy were members of Emanuel's Lutheran Church and she was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary H U Wood Post 245 in Seguin. Laura is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Roy Merz; daughter, Cynthia Bentley and husband Robert; grandchildren, Hannah Grace Bentley, Noah Alexander Bentley and Shawn Michael Bentley; brother, Fred Lenz; brother-in-law, Ray Merz and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Betty Lorenz; aunt, Nell Lenz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Zoboroski, Mark Lenz, Alton Haese, Brian Beutnagel, Richard Merz and Kathryn Hartman. Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel's Lutheran Church, 206 N.
