Lavern E. Taft age 83 of New Braunfels, formerly of Seguin, passed away on August 6, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Sue E. Taft; his son, Kevin Taft and wife Katherine; five grandchildren; brother, Joe Taft and wife Frances; nieces, nephews and other family members. He is preceded in death by his daughters Tamera Taft and Kimberly Stange, his parents and four brothers. A former San Antonio policeman, he also retired from Guadalupe County Sheriff's department. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Private interment will be held in San Geronimo Cemetery.
