Leland H. Lorenz, age 76 of Seguin, passed away on June 12, 2011. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 12 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Cross Church with Rev. Jim Price officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245 will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Leland was born on December 25, 1934 in Staples, Texas to Oscar Lorenz and Olga Mary Wagenfuehr Lorenz. Leland proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Pat Baker Co., then SMI, the Doc Schmidt Ranch and then went to Seguin Rental and retired from A – Z Rental. After retirement he enjoyed working part time on the Homan Ranch. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leslie and Leroy Lorenz and sisters, Leona Zunker and Lorine Pendleton. Survivors include his wife Betty J. Schlichting Lorenz; son, Mark Lorenz and wife Tammy; daughter, Amy Boeder and husband Kenny; step-son, Rick Merz; grandchildren, Trevor Vela, Kambrie Boeder, Mandy Gonzales, Sam and Olivia Merz; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lola Nickell, Brother, Lester Lorenz; sister-in-law, Lizzie Lorenz; brother-in-law, Herbert Zunker; numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Hurt, Kenneth Nickell, Ed Homan, Trevor Vela, Sam Merz and Bobby Jahns. Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Church, 814 N.
