Leroy Paul Schmoekel, age 86 of Marion, passed away on March 28, 2018. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion with Rev. David Collins and Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Leroy was born on April 23, 1931 in Guadalupe County, near Marion to Albert William and Ida (Gieseck) Schmoekel. After many years of service, Leroy retired from Friedrich Air Conditioning in 1998. He was a lifetime farmer and was proud of his many trophies he won in numerous hay shows. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Lee Schmoekel. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathryn Wenske Schmoekel; son, Rodney Schmoekel and wife Dora; daughter, Deborah Parsons and husband Aubrey; grandchildren, Eric Schmoekel, Stacy Vasquez and husband Albert, Quintin Parsons and wife Bobbie Jo, Kevin Parsons and wife Andrea, and Jannette Parsons; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barbara Schmoekel and Evelyn Forshage; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Quintin Parsons, Kevin Parsons, Eric Schmoekel, Albert Vasquez, Shane Vasquez, and Greg Terrill. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P. O.
