Lilia Castillo Jones, age 65, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2026. Lilia was born on June 23, 1960, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Lilia (Mendoza) and Edward Diaz Castillo, who preceded her in death.
Lilia is survived by her precious son, Ezekiel “Zeke” Edward Jones; former husband and friend, Mark Jones; brother, Edward Castillo Jr.; sister, Judy Castillo; niece, Zoe Allena Castillo-Ross; numerous loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, many cherished & dear friends plus her beloved pets, Goldie Hawn, Barbie & Peewee.
She graduated from Skyline High school in Dallas, Texas and then went on to the University of Texas at Arlington where she earned a Bachelor’s degree, Communication (Journalism), and a minor in Marketing.
For the next 35 years she had a stellar career in media where she served as National Director of the Dallas Morning News, Classified Director of the Daily Oklahoman, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of the San Antonio Express- News, Publisher of the Harlingen Valley Star and CEO/President/Publisher of the Texas New Mexico Partnership.
Lilia also put her executive skills to good use in the nonprofit sector as the Executive Director of the Humane Society of Harlingen.
Upon her retirement, Lilia moved to Seguin where she was needed by her parents and was indispensable in helping them transition through their final years.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 510 S Camp St., Seguin, TX 78155.
Followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
A Private family internment will be on Friday, May 8, at the Lopez Family Cemetery, 3898 County Road 440 Alice, Texas, followed by a gathering at the home of the Benny Perez family.
