Obituary

Linda N. Nye was born on the family farm near Geronimo on July 17, 1912 to Richard E. Neumann and Ida Heinemeier Neumann, both of whom predeceased her. On August 19, 1939, she was married to Claude H. (Bill) Nye, who died on February 20, 1989. She attended Harborth School, Navarro High School and Draughons Business College in San Antonio. In July 1929 she was employed by Guadalupe County Abstract Company and Knetsch, Stevenson & Knetsch until July 1939. After brief periods of employment with Texas Title Company and Jones & Fly in San Antonio, she was employed by Denman, Franklin & Denman until 1946, when she left to join her husband in New Mexico. Shortly after moving there, they purchased San Juan County Abstract & Title Company in Aztec, New Mexico and later the business was moved to Farmington, New Mexico, to which city their residence was moved in 1955. That business was sold to Omer F. Tucker and she continued working with him until about 1980, when she retired. She moved back to Seguin in December 1989, where she died on March 12, 2009. In addition to her parents, her sisters, Lilly Williamson, Hilda DeLire, Helna Jones and brothers, Arno Neumann and Marvin Neumann preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Stella Bristol of Austin, Texas, brothers, Elton Neumann and wife Jean, and Richard Neumann all of the Seguin area, numerous nieces, including Patti Siltmann, and nephews. Linda's family would like to give a huge thank you to her loving and very faithful caregivers – Maria Sanchez, Ethel Luckey, Mary Alice Ibarra and Peggy Hanover. To the Guadalupe County Hospice – Linda was so blessed to have had you during these months. You all brought needed comfort – physical and spiritual – to Linda, the caregivers and her family. Thank you for being a part of her life and our lives. A service celebrating Linda's life will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ in Geronimo with interment to follow in the Lone Oak Cemetery.
