"Omie" Loraine Richter a devoted Christian, age 84 of Seguin passed into eternal life and was welcomed by Jesus' loving arms on Saturday July 16, 2011. Visitation will be held Sunday July 24 from 11:00am to 6:00pm with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Monday July 25 at Friedens UCC in Geronimo at 10am with Rev. John Roberts officiating, with interment to follow at Lone Oak Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Friedens Church Fellowship hall after interment. Loraine was born July 26, 1926 in Geronimo Texas to Egon Bruno Meyer and Marichen Engelke Meyer. She was baptized Palm Sunday 1927 at Friedens Church. Loraine spent her early years in Geronimo and attended school at Navarro. She later resided in San Antonio and graduated from Brackenridge High School. She married her husband, of 51 years, Tony, October 27, 1951. She worked for Slick Airways and then retired from Harlandale Bank after 30 yrs. of service. After retiring from banking she worked with her daughter Laurie at Luv-n-Learn child care for 15 years. The last 16+ years she served as office manager and inside sales representative for Carter Memorials with her daughter Laurie and son-in-law James. She worked until the day she became sick which was June 30. She really loved her job and always showed kindness and compassion to those who had lost a loved one. She was also an Avon representative for the last 16 years. In the past she had enjoyed bowling, square dancing and for many years sang in the New Braunfels Gemischter Chor Harmonie. As an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ, she more recently remained active in the Friedens church choir. In 1950 she started collecting angels and has a collection of more than 600, given to her by family and friends. She was our Angel on earth, and now she is our Angel in heaven watching over us. Loraine had a warm soul and was loved by all. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they were the light of her life. She will be truly missed by all but we take comfort in that someday we will see her again. Loraine is preceded in death by her infant son Richard Richter, late husband Anton "Tony" Richter, brother, Bruno Meyer, Great-grandson Lyle Lytton and her loving companion dachshund Frieda. Survivors include her son George Richter, daughter Sherrie Richter, daughter Laurie Deatherage and husband James, and step-daughter Geraldine Cover. Grandchildren include Donnie Legnon and wife Donna, Brenda Cox and husband Mike, Monica Davenport and husband Marty, Richard Harris, Naomi Cason and husband Brant, Nicole Frets and husband Rob, Edward Richter and wife Wendy, Jerry Richter, Gina Blakley and husband Robert, Laura Murphy and husband John, Beverly Ohlhausen, Michael Ohlhausen, William Cover, 25 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, numerous cousins nieces and nephews and countless friends and her loving companion dachshund Trixie.
