Obituary

Lorraine Ruth Alto, age 79 of Seguin, Texas, took the hand of our Lord, in her home, on Monday, October 31, 2022. She was born on August 29th, 1943 in Newport News, Virginia to Arthur and Thelma Wallace.

Though born in Virginia, Lorraine and her family moved to Ohio when she was young, where Lorraine completed high school and joined the United States Navy, becoming one of the first Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES). She was honorably discharged after serving her tour and then began her own family.

Lorraine lived in various states in our great country, but her final destination in 2010 was in Seguin, Texas with her husband, Victor. She LOVED Texas. She enjoyed their travels together and the homes they shared but she could never share her love more than she did in Texas. She enjoyed showing her love through giving quirky gifts for no reason, providing gift cards to the local workers who delivered her mail or picked up her trash, and by sharing her personal gift of cooking. She was a fantastic cook! She shared meals with neighbors, baked goods with her church and during the holidays could be found delivering platters of food to the local fire department. She loved doing those things and sharing her gift.

A couple years after arriving in Seguin, Lorraine found a new gift - painting. While her first attempts were a little "rough" as she would say, practice made perfect and her paintings soon found their way into the Seguin Art League's displays where she received ribbons for her work and even sold a few of her paintings. She was a member of the Art League until her passing.

Over all of her loves were her love of her church and her family. First Baptist Church of Seguin was her sanctuary. She volunteered at the church as part of the cleaning crew and became her Sunday School class's "Prayer Warrior".

Her love for her family and friends is displayed with picture collages all over her home of all those who have meant so much to her. She just never stopped sharing her love.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Arthur and Thelma Wallace.

Survivors include her husband, Victor; her daughters, Debbie and Amy and their families; her son, Ed; and her older siblings Dave, Ken and Marie; numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
