Obituary

Louie (Lou) Ricks, age 89 of St. Hedwig, passed away on October 20, 2013. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Redeemer United Church at Zuehl at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lee Zillmann officiating. Interment with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245 will follow in the Redeemer United Church Cemetery. Lou was born on September 25, 1924 in Dilley Texas to Louie Alonzo and Agnes Frances Zinsmeyer Ricks. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He will be remembered as a grocer and rancher. He loved spending time riding his Red Tractor. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Irene Schocht and Leora Brooks. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Anita Ricks; children, Craig Ricks, Randall Ricks, Sherrie Jones, Susan DeLuna and husband Ralph, Jr. and Sheryl Wedige; brother, Bill Ricks and wife Linda; sister, Shirley Sims and husband Bill; sisters-in-law, Velma Milam and Evelyn Grein; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph DeLuna, III, Rusty DeLuna, Rodney DeLuna, Eric Wedige, Chris Jones and Brandon Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Ricks, Willie Strey, Ralph DeLuna, Jr., Oscar Barrero, Otto Luensmann, Richard Luensmann and Burt Gonzales. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer United Church, 7415 Gin Road, Marion, Texas, 78124.
