Obituary

LTC P. V. "Duke" Brossman, USAF (Ret.) age 89 of Seguin, passed away on March 13, 2012 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Tres Hewell Mortuary. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Rev. Paul M. Cross officiating and under the auspices of Guadalupe Masonic Lodge # 109 A. F. & A. M. Duke was born on July 7, 1922 in Denver, Pa. to William J. and Katie Brossman. He proudly served his country first in the United States Army Air Corp at Wheeler AFB (adjacent to Pearl Harbor) and was promoted to youngest ever 1st Sergeant at age 19. Duke was on his way to church that Sunday morning December 7, 1941 and survived the Japanese 1st strike on Pearl Harbor. After 11 years of service including assignments in Europe and Korea, Duke met his future wife, Carrie Denny Brossman, on a blind date he met through Harry Truman's dentist. The rest is history as they married in Japan and a 59 year love story followed. Through "Duke's" military career in the United States Air Force, they embarked on a story book journey that led them all over the world. Duke retired as a LTC after 22 years of service in United State Air Force. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion H U Wood Post 245 in Seguin, Guadalupe Masonic Lodge # 109 A. F. & A. M. and the Alzafar Shrine. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years and his parents. Survivors include: sons, Denny V. Brossman and wife Diana and Pherl E. Brossman and wife Deborah; grandchildren, Ivi Shea Villanueva and husband Patrick, Breanna Michelle Brossman, Pherl Lawford Brossman, and Mary Tympranz Brossman; great-grandchild, Madison Kinsey Villanueva; sister, Kathryn Brossman Kutz and husband Frank; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pherl Lawford Brossman, Frankie Faldik, Don Leonard, Bart Sutton and Fred Wadleigh. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the America Lung Association, P.O. Box 25460, Austin, TX 78777.
