LTC William "Bill" Hicklin

LTC William “Bill” Lawrence Hicklin, US Army, Ret., age 86 of Seguin, passed away on October 1, 2026. William was born on October 16, 1939, to Eleanora (Wolter) and Sidney Lawerence Hicklin in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and assisted with the press corps at West Point for the release of the Iran Hostages in 1981. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and earned his master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. He later retired from USAA. In retirement, William enjoyed cruising with family and friends. Many good times were had.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori E. Hicklin; brother, John S. Hicklin and sister-in-law, Bebe Hicklin.

Survivors include his loving wife of years, Irys E. Hicklin; daughter, Robin R. Caddy and husband Lyle; son, William D. Hicklin; grandchildren: Leigh Anne Hicklin, Denyer R. Caddy, and Sidney R. Hicklin; nephew, Jonny Bill Hicklin; niece, Tracy D. Hicklin; and aid-de-camp, Billy Perry.

Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Chaplain Emanuel Carpenter officiating.
