Marguerite Elizabeth Donsbach, age 91 of Seguin, passed away on July 14, 2014. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Mittelstadt officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Marguerite was born on November 5, 1922 in Wharton Texas to Walter and Marie (Boerger) Matthys. She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Seguin where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Dorcas Guild. There she also enjoyed attending Bible Studies and working on the quilts for their mission project. Marguerite was a member of the Seguin American Legion Auxiliary Unit 245, where she received American Legion Auxiliary Member of the Year 1991-1992 and American Legion Auxiliary Department of Texas, Chaplain of the Year 1997-1998. She was also a member of the Seguin Fire Department Auxiliary. Marguerite enjoyed bowling both 9 pin and 10 pin and served the local association in various offices. She and her late husband coached the junior bowlers for several years and she served on the State Board of the Texas Women's Association. When she was no longer able to participate, she enjoyed watching her daughter bowl in her various leagues. She enjoyed watching sports and playing dominoes, cards and other games with her family and friends. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband Siegfried "Sieg" Donsbach, infant daughters, her parents, and her brother, George Matthys. Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Wilson and husband Mike; grandsons, Matthew Wilson and wife Teri and Christopher Wilson and wife Vicki; great-grandchildren, Dylan Buras, Aubri Wilson, Brady Wilson, Makenzi Schriewer and Landri Wilson; sisters, Ruby Johnson, Thelma Koehler, Florence Haugen, and Sharron Vogel and husband Virgil; brother, Leroy Matthys and wife Barbara; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her family members will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 245 and the Seguin Fire Department Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 935 E. Mountain, Seguin, Texas, 78155, or to the charity of one's choice.
