Marjorie Newman, age 97 of Seguin, passed away on July 27, 2024. She was born on November 29, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas to Clara (Wentzel) and Adolph Marbach.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her first husband, Archie Peek and her second husband, Joel Newman, son, David Peek, parents and her brothers, Frank Marbach and Bob Marbach.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph Peek (Ann), and Bill Peek (Eileen); granddaughters, Kara Daniel (Kurt), Hannah White (Travis), Becky Peek, Shauna Peek, and Michelle Peek; grandson, Earl Peek; great-grandchildren, Preston Daniel, Lacy Daniel, Rylan Barton, Mia Daniel, James Barton, Waylon white and Dutton White; sister Patricia Burke (Stoney); sister-in-law, Jim Ada Waley; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
Marjorie was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where she always wanted to attend the Saturday 6PM mass. During her life she worked at Ol' Bossy Dairy Store, George Faber Furniture and HEB. Her favorite work position at HEB was being the manager of the Texas Gold Stamp Center. In Marjorie's earlier years she was an avid bowler and had been the Seguin City Champion. Her doubles partner during many of the bowling events was Linnette Haberman. She and her husband Joel loved to go to auctions and at one time ran a swap shop off of Interstate 10. She and Joel also like to travel and at times would take off for multiple week's traveling across the United States and Canada. She will be deeply missed by her family.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10 a.m. and the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Private interment will be held at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
