Heaven has gained another angel, Mark Alan Bennett, OD left this earth peacefully on January 17, 2015, surrounded by his wife Carolyn and his three loving children, Catherine, Christopher, and Margaret. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Bob Elliot officiating. The mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery. Mark was born on December 25, 1955 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Donald and Elizabeth (Crouch) Bennett. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Chadron State in Chadron, Nebraska. Mark then went to the University Of Houston College Of Optometry, where he received his Doctor of Optometry. He moved to Seguin and set up practice at TSO in September of 1981. In June of 1986 he married the love of his life, Carolyn Franke. 5 years later they were blessed with their first daughter Catherine, followed 2 years later by Christopher, and Margaret, three years after him. Mark was an avid Nebraska Husker fan, much to the ire of his wife! Mark loved his family deeply, spending all his non-working hours with them, taking photos, and enjoying the love they had for him. Mark is preceded by his parents and father-in-law, Johnny Franke in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Carolyn; children Catherine, Christopher, and Margaret; sisters Barbara Bennett, and Nancy Unick and husband Ben; Mother-in-law Kay Franke; sister-in-law Debbie Cartwright and husband John; nephews Eugene and Geoffrey Unick, and Michael Cartwright, as well as numerous friends.
