Martha Vogel, age 88 of Seguin, passed away on August 11, 2016. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Martha was born on May 15, 1928 in Mishawaka Indiana to Frank and Augusta (Le Cluyse) Van Osselaer. She will be remembered as a longtime employee of Hexcel Corporation. Martha devoted much of her time volunteering; she was a familiar face at the Seguin Silver Center, a place she loved dearly. She was also actively involved in the Seguin Order of the Sons of Hermann Lodge #37, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary H. U. Wood Post 245 and the VFW Auxiliary 8456. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church. Martha was a wonderful lady who enjoyed people and always made time to visit friends and patients at the nursing homes and hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leon Van Osselaer and her sister, Mary Schievelbein. Survivors include her loving children, Betty Eckols and husband Herbert, Robert Vogel and wife Debbie, Shirley Rappleyea and husband Robin, and Harvey Vogel and wife Karen; grandchildren, Russell Eckols and wife Brandi, Joey Eckols and wife Bethany, Robby Vogel and wife Tricia, Ryan Vogel and wife Haley, Carrie Divin and husband Matt, Brooke Vierig and husband Brandon, Zach Vogel and fiancée Suzanne Salinas, and Rachel Vogel; great-grandchildren Brinley, Ivy, Ella, Hayden, Zoie, Tyler, Libby, and Vivian; special friend, Art Neely; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Eckols, Joey Eckols, Robby Vogel, Ryan Vogel, Zach Vogel, and Lee Roy Vinyard. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
