The Reverend Marvin "Danny" Koenig was born in Orange Grove, Texas on July 24, 1935 to Walter W. and Esther Koenig. He was called home to be with his Lord on July 31, 2018.
God placed Danny into a loving, Christian family that was always active at church. He was a graduate of H.M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas and then earned his B.A. in history from Texas Lutheran College. Through the encouragement of his parents and several influential pastors, he then graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH with a Master's of Divinity. Ordained in July 1961, Danny devoted his life in service to God as a Lutheran pastor in the communities of Warrenton and Waldeck, Llano, Killeen, Angleton, Midland, Bulverde, New Braunfels, and Seguin, TX. Even though he officially retired in September 2000, he continued to serve multiple churches and communities as a pastor, bible study leader, mentor, and, most importantly, a friend, until shortly before his death.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Esther Koenig; his brothers, Walter W. Koenig, Jr. and Daryl Koenig, and his twin sister, Mavis Greif. His is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet; son Andrew Koenig and his wife Kim; daughters Nancy Allen and Yvonne Fritz; grandchildren Kelly Koenig and fiancé, Kenny Lamb, Conner Koenig, Grace Allen, Will Allen, Emma Allen, Madelyn Fritz, Abigayle Fritz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 8, at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels, Texas. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory can be made to your home church and designate it for youth camping ministries or to St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels Memorial Fund, 777 W.
