Marvin Wayne Smith age 82 of Seguin, Texas passed away peacefully at his home with family and friends around him on October 21, 2023. He was born January 6, 1941, to Essie Irene (Reeves) and Elmer L. Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dalton Smith (Odessa), LeRoy Smith (Mary), and Paul Smith; sisters, Jean Eiland (Curtis), Helen Broadway (Paul), and Leonia Hoot (Anson), mother-in-law and father-in-law, Agnes and Hilmar Herbold, and brother-in-law, H.C. (Sonny) Herbold.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruth Smith; daughter, Shauna Baker; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Lauren Baker; brother, Burl Smith and wife Delores; sisters, Dorothy Reneau and Gerry Kirkland and husband Glen and sister-in-law; Sandra Smith and sister-in-law, Glynna Herbold.

Marvin graduated from Seguin High School in 1959. He went on to get his degree in Accounting from Southwest Texas State University. Marvin worked in Seguin as an Accountant for 52 years. He loved his church, was the church secretary and an active board member for 40 years. He was a skilled woodworker and loved making furniture in his workshop for family and friends which they still treasure in their homes today.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting, teaching his granddaughters to fish, playing golf with his friends, and collecting CASE knives.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Church with The Rev. Michael Moak and the Rev. Donald Wiehe officiating. A reception will follow.

A private family burial will be held in San Geronimo Cemetery at a later date.
