Mary Barecky Kolbe, age 87 of Seguin, passed away on April 8, 2019. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek, Rev. Gregory J. Nevlud and Rev. David Tonary officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Mary was born on February 24, 1932 in Alice, TX to Julius and Mary (Zapalac) Barecky. She was a longtime owner and operator of Kolbe Flower Shop. Mary attended both St. James Catholic and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Seguin Fire Department. Mary also devoted much love and time to the local Meals on Wheels program. Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Alfred P. Kolbe, her parents, and her daughter, Angela Kay Kolbe. Survivors include her sons, Tim Kolbe and wife Cheryl, Jeff Kolbe and wife Margaret, and Scott Kolbe and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Anthony Kolbe, Kathryn Kolbe, Megan Kolbe, Jay Kolbe and wife Takona, Nicholas Kolbe and wife Kara, Mason Kolbe, Kyle Kolbe, and Lauren Kolbe; cousins Edward Zapalac, and Melvin Zapalac and wife Dorothy; other loving family members and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be her eight grandchildren, honorary pallbearers will be her two cousins, Edward and Melvin, who were like brothers to her.
