Max Scheffel, Jr., age 76 of Seguin, passed away on February 20, 2010. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Max was born on October 15, 1933 in McQueeney, TX to Max, Sr. and Josefina Gallegos Scheffel. "Mr. Max" as he was known by everyone worked for 28 years at Mission Valley Mills as a superintendent, then for a number of years at R & R Drive-Inn and Vivroux Hardware Store. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He is preceded by his parents; a brother, Jesse Scheffel; a sister, Mary Scheffel and a granddaughter, Amber Lyn Smith. Survivors include his son, Michael Scheffel, Sr. and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Michael Scheffel, Jr. and wife Patty, Jason Scheffel and Allison Scheffel; step-grandchildren, Blake Petrek, Garrett Muelker and Gretchen Hilt and husband James; great grandchildren, Justine, Racia, Logan, Layne, Trey, R. J. and Lance; brothers, Reynaldo Scheffel and wife Dolores and Robert Scheffel and wife Becky; sisters, Modesta Tovar, Rosa Regalado, Yolanda Torres and husband Robert and Josie Lopez and husband Joe and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers Juan and David Vigil, Max Scheffel, Eligio Urias, Crispin Hernandez, "Caco" Tristan, Jerry Tovar and Melecio "Blackie" Rodriguez.
