Melissa Lynn Williams, age 46 of Marion, passed away on October 9, 2023.  Melissa was born on November 4, 1976, in McComb, Mississippi, to Winnie Angeline (Jones) and Marcus J. Newman.

Melissa was a former nurse who took pride in taking care of her patients.  She was an avid animal lover, often rescuing animals in need.

Melissa is preceded in death by her mother, her sister, Angel Newman, her mother-in-law, Gennell Henderson, her father-in-law, Frank Bell, Sr., and her brother-in-law, Efrem Williams.

Survivors include her husband, Deon Wayne Williams; step-daughter, Amberlynn Williams, and partner Brandon King; grandchildren, Thomas Luckey, Jr., Aariyah Williams and Brandon Bryn King; father, Marcus J. Newman; sisters, Marsha Bruno and husband Daryll, Hope Newhouse, and husband Kyle, and Pam Newman and husband Sam Merz; her very best friend, Aaronda Hicks; sister-in-law, Haynette Miller; nieces, Aston Jackson and Aerial Matthews and nephews, Christopher, Deon and Tyrell Williams as well as other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Melissa's life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Emanuel Carpenter officiating.  Private interment will be held at a later date.
