Melton C. Cotton, age 81 of McQueeney, passed away on March 8, 2013. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 9 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Lonnie Richison officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Mel was born January 27, 1932 in Pasadena California to Harold Nathan and Sophia Virginia Coulter Cotton, one of nine children. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, Seguin Ward. He worked hard in all his endeavors. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bob Cotton and his sisters, Carol Fjield and Louise Cotton. Survivors include his daughters, Becky Lynne Cotton Robison and Linda Marie Cotton Paxton and husband Troy; grandchildren, Matthew Ostergaard, Vanessa Syfert, Crystal Holestine, Camille Donatiello, Falon Syfert, Savannah Hall and husband David, Felicia Cotton, Cheyenne Cotton, Levi Cotton and Caleb Cotton; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Bradley Ostergaard, Nicki and Elisa Montano, Zachary Holestine and Braydon Davis; brother, Jack Cotton; sisters, Irene Cooper, Joy Kastler, Margaret Wright and Dee Sikes; dear friend and mother of his children, Shirley Cotton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and friends. Mel will be remembered as a devoted family man and a great provider and diligent worker in Church Service, strong in convictions for right and wrong. His spiritual growth was greatly important to him and the growth of his loved ones. He was a hard worker and enjoyed music, reading, family history, photography, hunting, fishing, camping, driving and seeing loved ones. He always volunteered to offer assistance wherever was needed. His work was never done, he always found things to do to be productive. His sense of humor kept him from crying many times. He wanted to continue his dreams! All of his family members and acquaintances will miss him always. He always made an effort to comfort others. His Motto was Pray Always!
