Melton D. Elley, age 85 of Seguin, passed away on August 24, 2011. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 28, 2011 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services and interment will be held at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park on Monday August 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Rich Van Natter officiating. Melton was born on November 26, 1925 in Seguin, Texas to Alvin and Adelia Meyer Elley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a 50 year member of the Hermann Sons Lodge #37 of Seguin and a member of McQueeney VFW Post #9213. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandchildren, Casey Mason and twins, Aron and Ashley Elley and brothers Albert Elley and wife Lola and Raymond Elley. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Murray Elley; children, Mark Elley and wife Sandy, Roger Elley and wife Sue, Brenda Moore and husband Clarence, Elton Reneau and wife Kay, Cindy Mason and husband Roger, Tim Reneau and wife Judy, and Tammy Reneau; sisters, Dorothy Dotson and Della Artbuckle; brothers, Gussie Elley and wife Myrtle, and Clarence Elley; sister-in-law, Ruby Elley; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
