Obituary

Michael Paul Durben, age 81 of Seguin, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 5, 2015. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., with Deacon Nick Carrillo officiating, at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Darilek officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Eden Cemetery.

Michael was born on April 14, 1934 in Quarry Wisconsin to Paul Joseph and Leonora Mary (Heimermann) Durben. He joined the Air Force in 1955, serving in Texas, Florida, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, and Thailand. Mike retired in 1975, following that career with a twenty year career at Motorola in Seguin. With each location he became an active part of his community joining the Lions Club, Boy Scouts as Scout Master, square dancing club, car club, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed joining others on Friday nights at Kirby's to show off his classic cars. Over the past few years he enjoyed serving his community through the Christian Cupboard helping the needy of the local area. Mike loved to travel and was very proud that he had set foot on all seven continents in his lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John Durben, Peter Durben, and Servatius Durben, and his sisters, Angie Hein, Mary Schwoerer, Germaine Schwoerer, Helen Durben, and Connie Ellenberg. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Durben; son, Craig Durben and wife Pam; daughter, Denise Durben; grandchildren, David Durben, Travis Durben, Amanda Santos and Dustin Durben; great-grandchildren, Haily Durben and Steven Durben; brother, Paul Durben, Sr. and wife Maxine; sisters, Dorothea Harris, and Elizabeth Wagner and husband Eugene; sisters-in-law, Antoinette Durben and Dorothy Durben; brothers-in-law, Lenroy Koehler and wife Mary, Shelby Koehler and wife Marjorie, James Koehler and wife Irene, Larry Koehler and wife Lynda, Calvin Koehler and wife Vicky, and Dennis Koehler and wife Darlene; sister-in-law, Betty Joyce Willemin and husband Tim; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Whitescarver, Steve Koehler, James Lee Koehler, Eric Koehler, Trason Willemin and Sean Koehler. His grandsons will be his honorary pallbearers.
