Minnie Blanche Shanafelt, age 89 of Seguin, passed away on February 21, 2015. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville and Rev. Neil Kibbe officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. Blanche was born on July 5, 1925 in Tuxedo Texas to George W. and Ruby Kate (Johns) Rivers. Frank and Blanche moved to Seguin in 1991 and were active members of First Baptist Church. Her beloved husband of 69 years Frank Edward Shanafelt preceded her in death as did her parents, her brother George W. Rivers, Jr., sister, Pauline Carlton and husband Joe, brother-in-law, Ralph Shanafelt and great-grandson, Skyler Ognoskie. Survivors include her children, Larry Shanafelt, Allen Shanafelt and wife Lynne, and Janice Bowman and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Sally Tolbert and husband Dustin, Rachel Martinez, Caleb Shanafelt, Gabe Shanafelt and wife JoAnna, Genevieve Lucas and husband Brad, and Evie Bowman and fiancé Aaron Adams; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harvey Allen (Red) Rivers and wife Pat, and Milburn Clayton (Cotton) Rivers and wife Ann; sister-in-law, Adele Shanafelt; numerous nieces and nephews.
