Mitchell Roy Sterling, Jr., age 90 of Seguin, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2016. Visitation will begin on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 5 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. with Rev. John L. LaNoue officiating and military honors under the auspices of the American Legion H. U. Wood Post 245 Seguin and the Guadalupe Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61. Private interment will be held at a later date at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches Texas. Roy was born on November 9, 1925 in Beaumont, Texas to Mitchell Roy Sterling, Sr. and Donnie Mae (Day) Sterling. He will be remembered as a patriot who loved his country as evidenced by his service in the United States Navy during World War II. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served 25 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He continued in public service with memberships in the American Legion and as a mason and shriner. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Cayard Sterling, his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his daughter, Dani Smith; grandchildren, Christopher Smith and fiancé, Heather Witt, and Amy Fishbeck and fiancée, Reed Johnson; great-grandchildren, Trey Fishbeck, Hayden Witt, Maddie Witt, Shawn Johnson, Haylee Johnson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.
