Molly Pogor, 99, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many has gone home to our Lord.
Molly was preceded in death by her husband Anton (Tony) Pogor, her parents William and Elsa Reeder, sisters Gladys Timmermann (Elton), Janie Baerwald (Hermon), Willis Harborth (Otto), Sophie Martin (Bill) and son-in-law Dennis W. Zuber.
She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Zuber, Patsy Galanffy and husband Dani along with her son Matthew Pogor and wife Linda. She leaves one sister Junie Wallace, as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Molly leaves seven grandchildren: Diane Zuber Hrechko, Rita Medellin and husband Jerry, Bryan Pogor and wife Carrie, Sherry Pogor, David Galanffy, Paul Galanffy (Jennifer) and Stephen Galanffy (Natalie).
Thirteen Great-Grandchildren: Benjamin Hrechko (Cameron), Nicolas Hrechko (Lindsay), Jonathan Hrechko, Paul Medellin (Erica), Shalee Radulski and husband Joe, Davis Pogor, Allie Pogor, Kimble Horsak, Lindsey Galanffy (Justin), Kyle Galanffy and Ryan Galanffy, Katelynn Rodriguez (Jorge) and Connor Cody.
Four Great-Great-Grandchildren: Mateo Medellin, Elliott Radulski, Sophia Scalise and Sofia Rodriguez.
A lifetime resident of Guadalupe County, Molly spent her early years in Marion, Texas. After marrying Tony, they moved to Seguin and while raising their family she was very active in the community as a scout leader for the Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scout troops. She also served on the Guadalupe County Girl Scout Board for 10 years. She was employed at KWED radio for 37 years, retiring as the office manager in March 1990.
Molly was an active member of Saint James Catholic Church, serving our Lord in every way she could. She was a member of the Choir, Lector Commentator, Eucharistic Minister, and Sacristan. She was also a member of Saint Ann's Circle, serving as president for several years.
Molly joined the Ladies Auxiliary of the Seguin Fire Department in January 1942. She was awarded a life membership in 1959 and was named Auxiliary Member of the Year three times. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Guadalupe District Fireman and Fire Marshal Association. Molly was elected to the State Board of the Texas Fireman's Auxiliary in June 1975 and was President of the organization in 1986. As she presided at the 1986 State Convention in Austin she was recognized by the City of Seguin and the Mayor proclaimed June 17, 1986 as Molly Pogor Day. She continued serving on the board for many years.
After retiring, Molly spent her time volunteering as a member of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, St. James School Library and St. James Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Antonio Flores and the Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services for their excellent care.
Services will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. Dennis Darilek, Fr. Greg Nevlud and Fr. Stanislaus Fiuk officiating. A private interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held at noon at the St James Church Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, St. James Catholic School, the Food Pantry at St. James Church, the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Volunteers, and Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
