MSgt. Carlos L. Mercer, USAF (Ret.), age 83 of Seguin, passed away on August 30, 2018. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain David Anderson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Carlos was born on May 19, 1935 in St. Albans, West Virginia to Charles Herman and Virginia Esterline (Ellis) Mercer. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of dutiful service. He later worked 20 years at SMI (now CMC). He married Mildred Fern Friedeck in San Antonio, Texas on February 9, 1956. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mildred, his daughter, Carleen Mercer Pape, his granddaughter, Dana Ashley Mercer and his parents. Survivors include his sons, David Wayne Mercer, Sr. and fiancé Linda Maza and Sherman Wesley Mercer and wife Jackie; grandchildren, Christine Elaine Raderstorf and husband David, David Wayne Mercer, Jr. and wife Melissa, Dustin Kyle Mercer, Reagan Wesley Mercer, and Kaitlyn Ann Mercer; 4 great grandchildren; long time companion, Madeleine Serna. Serving as pallbearers will be David Wayne Mercer, Jr., Dustin Kyle Mercer, Reagan Wesley Mercer, David Wayne Raderstorf, Edward Serna and Chuck Carabajal.
