Obituary

Murray Frank Leatherwood, of Seguin, Texas, formally of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away on May 19, 2016 at the age of 71. Graveside services and interment with military honors will take place at at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Frank was born on April 1, 1945 in Bozeat, England to Everatt Braction and Irene Anne (Thompson) Leatherwood. Being born into a military family, Frank was raised, with his sisters, in several different countries and states. Frank also served his country honorably, first in the United States Air Force, from 1967-1969, and then the United States Navy from 1969-1978. Upon his discharge from the service, Frank worked first as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service, and later as a groundskeeper at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Frank was a true lover of life; whether it was knowledge, current events, the stock market, or a good plate of food. Frank received his B.A. in History from Norfolk State and continued his passion for history with his extensive reading collection. When Frank did venture away from his books and newspapers, it was to go antiquing with his wife, Helen. Frank is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and sister Delia Margaret Leatherwood. His is survived by his sister Nancy Cude and husband Robert; nephew Michael Cude and wife Simona; niece Catherine Polk and husband Chris; great nieces Courtny and Catie Polk.
