Obituary

Myrtle Beatrice Patton Taylor (Nanny), age 90 of Seguin formerly of Houston, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 5, 2012 after a long battle with many health issues. Myrtle was born on November 14, 1921 in Baxter Tennessee to Irma Patton and Philip Patton, Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Jesse Taylor, Sr., her son, Jack Taylor, Sr., her parents, brother, Leonard Patton, sisters, Maydene Bess and Phyllis Russell, and daughter-in-law, Wanda Sue Taylor. Our precious mother, sister and Nanny is survived by her children, Betty McFalls, Jesse Taylor Jr., Terry Taylor, Yvonne Maxwell and Alecia Laws; brother Philip Patton, Jr.; sister, Joanne Clinard. She has two wonderful son-in-laws, Kenneth McFalls and Doug Laws and one daughter-in-law, Renee Taylor. She has seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She has lived in Seguin for the last 12 years, moving from the Houston/Pearland area where she lived since 1954. She worshiped at First Baptist Church of Seguin where she was active in several Women's Bible Study classes. She loved the Lord with all her heart and had been walking with Him since her young adult life. She taught many adult Bible Study classes over the years where she very openly shared her love for Christ. Myrtle was employed for over 40 years in the Houston area in the magazine distribution business. She worked hard, was a committed employee and taught her children those same work ethics. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Seguin with Rev. Harold Travis officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held that afternoon at 3 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Library Fund, 1314 E. Cedar St., Seguin, Texas, 78155 or to the First United Methodist Church, 2314 N. Grand Blvd, Pearland, Texas 77581.
