IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neil R.
Erickson
March 29, 1959 – March 17, 2022
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Neil R. Erickson. Neil passed away at home on March 17, 2022, age 62, after a brave battle with cancer and God called him home.
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Vicki Erickson; son, Aaron Cashman (Stephanie); sister, Gina Erickson; brothers, Mike and Ray Erickson; grandchildren, Austin, Lainey and Alivia.
Neil was always up for any new adventure as he lived life to the fullest. He had a private pilot's license and he loved flying airplanes, including ultra-lights and kites. He loved riding motorcycles, bonfires with friends and family, kayaking, reading to expand his mind, shooting guns and teaching others the proper way to handle a gun, bicycling- he once rode from Minnesota to Illinois where he met his wife and his life changed forever, elk hunting in Colorado with his brother-in-law, Greg Turner, playing cards with his sister-in-law and brother- in-law Trudi and Ken Cuplin, barbequing for family and friends, telling stories about his life which were amazing, unbelievable, but true, playing golf with his brother-in-law, Ken Cuplin- not because he loved the game but because of the time he got to spend with family.
Neil married the love of his life, Vicki (Turner) Erickson on October 29, 1982. Neil and Vicki had a collaborative and caring relationship that was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. He loved his son Aaron Cashman with all his heart as well as his grandchildren Austin, Lainey, and Alivia.
After Neil's retirement at age 45, he loved driving bulldozers and tractors to clear trees from his 140-acre ranch, and built 3 stock tanks. He raised pure bred Beefmaster cattle, raised horses- 1 of which became a 2-time World Champion. He was always working on his ranch to make it more beautiful than the day before. He adventured into real estate and bought and sold some property with his partner, and nephew, Kyle Cuplin.
Neil considered himself blessed to have the family and friends he had. He was always helping others and would drop whatever he was doing in order to lend a helping hand. Best of all, he spent lots of time with his family, friends, and above all else, his wife whom he adored so much. Neil always had a smile on his face and a "story" on his lips. He was a kind and gentle person. He was always there to brighten the lives of others. Neil's distinct voice, his vast knowledge, and beautiful smile will live on in his family, as well as his love and legacy. He will be missed but NEVER forgotten. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by a loving family.
We ask you to join us for a celebration of life in a place he loved most. The celebration will be held at a later date to be determined. The family invites everyone who knew and loved Neil to celebrate this very special man with them. Please inquire with the family for more information on the service.
