Nora Ellen Wheeler Naumann, age 81 of Comfort, formerly of Seguin, passed away on August 17, 2016. Visitation will be held at Tres Hewell Mortuary on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel's Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Cannon officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. at Floyd Chapel Cemetery in Gonzales County. Nora was born on October 11, 1934 in Luling Texas to Dan D. and Jimmie Lorene (Gatlin) Wheeler. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Jenavee Naumann. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Roland Naumann; daughter, Julie Sheldon and husband Chuck; son, Thomas Naumann; granddaughters, Jennifer Sheldon and Michelle Sheldon; sister, Maxine Carpenter; sister-in-law, Maxine Stansberry and husband Bob; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends. Nora had a true pioneer spirit when it came to preserving Texas history. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) and served several terms as President of the local Abishai Mercer Dickson Chapter. She also had the honor of serving on the Alamo Committee in San Antonio, supporting work at the Alamo. She volunteered many hours at Seguin's Heritage Museum helping when it was originally organized and many years following. In previous years she enjoyed playing as a "Heavenly Ringer" with the bell choir at Emanuel's Lutheran Church. Traveling with her husband from coast to coast in their travel trailer was a favorite activity. Nora enjoyed life to the fullest taking every opportunity to be with family and friends, all who will greatly miss her. Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Naumann, Chuck Sheldon, Michael Carpenter, Dan Earl Carpenter, Jesse Roy Hart, Floyd McKee, Jim Ward, and Ken Collins.
