Norman Edward Brinker, age 77, of Corpus Christi, passed away on August 29, 2022, in Seguin, TX, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Better known around the neighborhood as "Stormin' Norman," he was born March 12, 1945, in Earling, Iowa. The oldest of seven children, he grew up on a farm raising cows, corn, oats, and soybeans.
Norman graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School in Iowa a year early and received a National Merit Scholarship. He attended Iowa State and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Ceramic Engineering in 1966. While working on his Masters in Metallurgy, Norman got his first job at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Connecticut, where he was credited with an invention that was patented.
He married Marilyn Mcgaffigan Nance in 1979 and had two daughters, Sarah Griffin and Martha Dixon. In 1983 he moved to Corpus Christi, where he worked civil service as a Metallurgist for the Corpus Christi Army Depot for over 25 years before retiring.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ruth Brinker. Survivors include his daughters Sarah Griffin and her husband James, Martha Dixon and her husband Justin; Step Daughters Christine Nance, Laura Miller and husband Todd; grandchildren, Emily Griffin, James Griffin, Helena Dixon, Sofia Dixon, Reilly Miller, and Caroline Miller and other loving family members and many friends.
A celebration of life gathering is planned in Corpus Christi at Town And Country Cafe, at 8:30am on September 23, 2022. A private internment with family will be held at a later date in Springdale, Arkansas.
