Odis Lee Whaley, age 84, passed away on March 11, 2017. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Tres Hewell Mortuary. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11 am at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Odis was born on October 30, 1932 in Gatesville, Texas to Ernest Lee and Unia Bell (Beasley) Whaley. Odis served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserve, however it was 38 years of service as a Texas State Trooper that he was most proud of. Odis was devoted to his family and he had their love in return. After his retirement on August 31, 1992 from the Department of Public Safety, he spent many mornings at the Dairy Queen making new friends. He loved the outdoors and taking care of his many animals. He will be truly missed by his loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and four sisters. Odis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (Wendland) Whaley; daughters, Marcy Ramos, and Lori Foradory; grandchildren, Matthew Ramos, and wife, Monica, Amanda Womack, Kate, and Christina Foradory; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Lopez, Landyn, Trenton, and Clarissa Ramos; sister, Era Mae Stubblefield; brother Bob Whaley, and wife, Loujuana; brother-in-law Gilbert Payne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Ramos, Larry Engelke, Hilmar Cowey, Jr., Gilbert Payne, Curry Jenke, and Steve Garcia.
