Martha "Olivia" Denman Brautigam ended her 96-year journey on earth on April 25, 2015. Her faith in God is now complete as she is in the presence of her Lord. Olivia was born in Gonzales County, on October 11, 1918 near Ottine, Texas on the San Marcos River. Her parents, Robert Marion Denman and Minnie Almira Talley Denman, were native Texans. She spent her childhood on the family farm and rode her pony, Tootsie, to the one-room schoolhouse. Olivia graduated from Gonzales High School in 1935 and spent one year at Baylor University. Then, she attended Draughans Business College in San Antonio. Upon finishing her business degree, she became the first bookkeeper of Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) at its founding in Cost, Texas.

Olivia met the love of her life, Harold, at the boarding house where they both resided in San Antonio. She married Harold Jacob Brautigam on July 14, 1940 and they were happily married for 47 years. Olivia served as President of the Garden Club and served on the committee responsible for landscaping the Clifton dorm at TLU. She also served as PTA President at Saegert Jr. High and was awarded a Life Membership to the PTA.

Olivia was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) tracing her relatives who fought in the American Revolutionary War. Olivia was a sweet, compassionate lady with a smile on her face. She was full of joy and a mighty prayer warrior. In her later years, her service was praying for and encouraging others through phone calls and cards while living happily at the Seguin Assisted Living for 12 years.
