Oscar G. Benavides, age 67 of Seguin, joined our Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Oscar was born on January 9, 1954 in Seguin, Texas to Bernardo and Sulema (Gonzales) Benavides.  Oscar loved his country and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  Back home in Seguin, he became an active member of the American Legion H U Wood Post 245 where he served for several years as Chaplain.  Always faithful to his country, it was his honor to carry the United States Flag at many different ceremonies in the Guadalupe County Area, especially the annual 4 ^th of July Parade here in Seguin.  A man of faith who loved his Lord, Oscar was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where he served in many capacities.  He loved and cherished family time, especially with his grandchildren!

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Bernardo Benavides. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Victoria Benavides; his children, Lisa Christine, Benjamin Oscar and wife Kimberly Ann, Victor Geronimo and wife Danielle Nicole, and Anjelica Maria; grandchildren who knew and loved him as "Pops", Jesse, Jaime, Cierra, Benjamin, Roy, Luke, Haley, Victor Jr., and Ofelia; siblings, Carmen Wrigley; John Benavides and wife Arlene, Richard Benavides and wife Tommie, Bernadine Bing, Mary Esther Harrison and husband William, and Eddie Benavides and wife Dianna; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.

Per Oscar's request, private family graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.  A public memorial mass will be planned at a later date.

Oscar was so loved by all his family and friends and he will be missed!  Well done Good and Faithful Servant!
